The Horizon 2020 project “Boosting Widening Digital Innovation Hubs” (BOWI) aimed to create a network that fosters collaboration between emerging and established Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) across Europe. This initiative sought to enhance the capacity of developing hubs in regions where Smart Anything Everywhere (SAE) and ICT Innovation for Manufacturing SMEs (I4MS) technologies were underrepresented, by facilitating knowledge transfer and joint technology experiments with mature hubs.
As part of the BOWI project, Virtech developed the AgeWare solution—an Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled software designed to promote active and healthy aging. AgeWare offers functionalities such as Smart Energy Services, Smart Health and Fitness Services, a GDPR-compliant module, smart contracting, and call center support. The implementation plan for AgeWare encompassed six stages, beginning with the definition of user requirements and technical specifications, followed by deployment in at least five homes of elderly users in Sofia. This solution builds upon an initial prototype developed during the H2020 ACTIVAGE Project.
In addition to AgeWare, Virtech contributed to two other projects under the BOWI initiative:
- BULCHARGE: Focused on developing innovative electric vehicle charging solutions in Bulgaria.
- RWHL: Aimed at creating a body hydration monitoring system.
Through these projects, Virtech has demonstrated its commitment to advancing digital innovation and supporting the integration of cutting-edge technologies in various sectors.
