The TRANSFORM project, part of the EIT Climate-KIC COVID-19 Call, aims to enhance urban resilience by reducing energy consumption and improving citizens’ health through two primary strategies:
- Digital Transformation: Implementing e-Energy services that utilize data from domestic and personal IoT devices to optimize energy management. This approach is projected to decrease energy consumption by an average of 15% annually, equating to a reduction of approximately 150,000 tCO₂e per home each year. Additionally, these services will support e-Health initiatives, offering predictive and prescriptive health feedback to residents.
- Full Urban Transformation: Undertaking deep renovation projects to refurbish homes, targeting an average energy reduction of 70%. This comprehensive approach is expected to achieve an annual climate impact of approximately 710,000 tCO₂e per home.
Collectively, the project aims to refurbish up to 30,000 homes by 2024, potentially creating over 15,000 full-time jobs and reducing CO₂ emissions by 45,000 MtCO₂e annually.
The consortium leading this initiative includes JIBE Company (Netherlands), Bankers Without Boundaries (UK), Dark Matter Laboratories (Netherlands), Virtech Ltd (Bulgaria), Topsportslab (Belgium), and the Sofia Development Association (Bulgaria).
This project exemplifies EIT Climate-KIC’s mission to drive systemic change through innovation, fostering climate-resilient communities and promoting a circular, zero-carbon economy.
